2011.
haha.
i suppose i only do these things when i'm bored. would have been working on my costumes if the textiles were here, but i'm actually blogging about 2011.

hmmm. 2011 was a lot of stress, a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of disappointment.
i worked really hard for many things, but i've yet to reap what i sowed.

and then i watched a really awesome drama, where i fell in love with jung il woo *_* and now i'm watching another 3 dramas of his. i feel really bad for lee jun ki now, because jung il woo is such a spin-off of jun ki. korean army, why don't you release jun ki nowwwwwwwwww and let him star in more dramas so i can stop looking at his lookalike...!!!

and this was the part that got me so head over heels for jung il woo. this must be the best best kiss i've ever seen...!!! *press replay x100 times*

watching it somehow lifts my mood a little.

2012... i'm bringing you over!

did a cosplay for taiwan trip...

Photobucket

simple simple. my laogong did hongkong.

Photobucket

super cheap cosplay, and would have been cheaper if i didn't get the wig, which i didn't use in the end!!!!

i bought a cheongsam that was just around my office for $6.90 and modified it to a top.

Photobucket

then added the lace on the sleeves area

Photobucket

made the larger sleeves using materials i already have...

Photobucket

and here it is!

Photobucket

then i plucked some flowers from my mom's vase and colored it red (was purple initially)...

Photobucket

made some tassles out of the golden thread i have

Photobucket

and put them together!

Photobucket

wala! the skirt is from athena's. heh. photoshoot carried out in taiwan itself. epic!
taiwan (hetalia)shopping list

cheongsam: $6.90
wig: $35
gold lining 4 years: $1.80 x 4 = $7.20

total: $49.10
len (setsugetsuka)shopping list

len costume (tb): 438rmb = $105.44
red and brown fabric paint: $10.30
umbrella: $4

total: $119.74
didn't do much for this costume! just added lots of decor. was pretty much a costume i taobaoed. yes, this is my first bought costume! figured it saved more time and money to buy it straight than to search around for the textiles and make it.

so here's the reference picture and pv.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

and then there's this really awesome group who cosplayed them before that was pretty inspiring to us. so we kinda followed their style

Photobucket

added the tassles (gold and red)

Photobucket

added the gold lace trims

Photobucket

styled the wig!

Photobucket

basically shuffed a chopstick+backcomb to make it stand then spam the hairspray. tied it together so it would come together as a clump. here's from the side

Photobucket

oh, i drew on those flowers too.

Photobucket
decided to repair a bit of synchronicity with the new acrylic cutter from zerar.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

and also cut a new mask that better fits the face... if not it will look so flat! and spammed more jewels...

i'm feeling extremely sleepy having woken up with a shock at 830 to realise i was running late for my meeting. in the end though, our key character was even later. mad rush for the morning.

now i'm settled in office again, waiting for the 3pm judgement. meanwhile i'm still repairing some slides but figure i should finish in an hour or so.

sighs. whatever have i gotten myself into.

and elixir replied so shortly and lately, that i don't think it warrants any response on my end. it was still a nice alert, albeit irritating. grah. i wish tuesday could come soon. perhaps i'll get to rest a little tomorrow, since the electricity in the office would be down. huh. let's just hope we won't be summoned into our ex-teeny office.

muahahah
just came back (ok, just is an understatement, this trip happened first week of october!) from taiwan and i'm so busy and lazy to write about. thank goodness someone else did 8D. so the 6 of us - vin/nik/vio/judas/mel/me planned and went over to taiwan for 9days of FUN and SHOPPINNNNNNNG :D:D:D:D:D:D:D hmmm i do so wanna go back now (especially since i'm typing from my office on a saturday T___T).

so since i'm so lazy to type and post the trip so i shall kope the entries from my darling here. she has a very good coverage and lots of useful tips! will update the links as she posts them up. i gather she's feeling pretty lazy too heh:

Tamazuki (youkai version) from Nurarihyon no Mago

i think this must be the most recycled cosplay ever. and by that i mean using all kinds of recycled items i can find. for e.g. the hakama was from my kendo, the purple top modified from kimimaro's top, the wig from my shio+gwen cosplay... and of course the cloths - i have so many leftover colored cloths i didn't really need to buy any ><

so who is this demon fox...?

Photobucket

Photobucket

his broken mask

Photobucket

his bbq sword

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

and his eye..!

Photobucket

also compared it to the manga version, and i decided to make the manga hair on the anime body. haha.

Photobucket

Photobucket

youkai battle!

Photobucket

this is his human form, just for the heck of it. this was after he got slashed by rikuo and his mask broke, hence the scar.

Photobucket

Photobucket

so what exactly did i make then??

started with the cloak first. actually made an inner layer as well (since i have so many leftover white cloth... why not).

Photobucket

put on the star painting and accessories...

Photobucket

then the collar

Photobucket

the inner top was modified - i cut short my kimimaro top and added the sleeves and collar. easy.

Photobucket

but the patterns were a killer. i bought the white felt to cut all the patterns, because the acrylic white paint i had just didn't look sharp enough. think i spent the whole day cutting, pasting and watching secret garden at the same time. not bad. (and then i cut the wrong shape on the cloak, and had to redo =.=)

Photobucket

Photobucket

then i worked on the grotesque bbq char siew sword. was done with bunches of newspaper masking taped to the shape, then painted with red shades. mom was wondering what the ugly thing was for several days, and i really want to throw it away soon. ughh

Photobucket

Photobucket

with some shading

Photobucket

the hilt thingy was made out of acrylic, which i sun bian cut since i was using the machine anyway. the holding part was wrapped with bandages i used for kimimaro.

Photobucket

then the mask. cut it from foam (shouldn't have, but it looked pretty flat...) and acrylic painted + white spray paint it. cracks when you fold it, and the painted features weren't bright enough... but oh well!

Photobucket

Photobucket

then is the wig. modifying shio's wig is hell... i really dislike that exploding bombastic wig. it didn't look good in photos either. thank goodness he has long hair so i could just put another wig below. needed special angles so the hair don't look so bombastic. pfffft.

Photobucket

Photobucket

last is the belt. i got about 10m of gold cords, twined them around each other, then twined the double rope around metal wire to get that shape. just barely able to put them on myself when i wore the costume, securing them using safety pins. really not a good method.

Photobucket

fox ears very easy, just a triangle pouch, and i pasted on the pink triangles. secured with hair pins. didn't even bother taking pictures. oops.
